Joywave and Hunny

Last week, indie band Joywave brought their fall tour to Emo’s in Austin, Texas. The band was accompanied by California rock band, HUNNY, as their opener.

This Wednesday night at Emo’s started off with a kick from HUNNY’s energetic opening set. The band rocked out on stage, playing some of their most iconic songs, including “Televised,” “July,” and “Vowels (and the Importance of Being Me).” It was clear that much of the crowd was just as enthused about HUNNY as they were for the headliner, as they sang along to all of their lyrics and cheered after every tune.

After HUNNY’s exciting set, the crowd waited in anticipation for Joywave to come on. Finally, they came on stage amongst a flurry of lights, beginning their set with the “Graffiti Planet.” Throughout their performance, they played a mix songs from Permanent Pleasure, How Do You Feel Now?, and various other releases. Whichever era they pulled from, one thing was for sure: the crowd knew it all. The New York natives owned every second of their time on the Emo’s stage, and truly made it a night that no one in attendance would forget.
