Last week, East Coast rock met West Coast punk when Joyce Manor opened up for The Gaslight Anthem at Austin’s iconic Stubb’s. No band could have cultivated a more excited and anticipatory crowd than the Torrance-grown trio. Joyce Manor’s set was filled with exuberance and emotion, as they led the audience from swaying their hands in the air to forming a circle pit. The band mixed songs from the 2014 classic Never Hungover Again with tunes from their latest album 40 oz. to Fresno, providing songs for every phase of fan. Their raw performance captivated fans and left the warm Austin air filled with emotion.
The Gaslight Anthem entered the stage shortly after Joyce Manor’s departure, and they wasted no time feeding off of the venue’s existing energy. The stage lights flashed as the band walked out to a roaring crowd, and the band kicked off their set in high gear. Catering to old and new fans alike, the New Jersey natives performed a variety of songs from 2012’s Handwritten to 2024’s History Books. Throughout their set, dedicated fans were seen everywhere, shouting every lyric at the top of their lungs and soaking in a warm night with their favorite rock band.
