The Crane Wives

Hailing from Grand Rapids, Michigan, folk rock quartet The Crane Wives put on an invigorating show in Toronto on Monday evening. The band’s first ever Canadian show was nothing short of incredible, playing fan-favourites like Never Love and Anchor and The Moon Will Sing, as well as debuting singles Bitter Medicine and Arcturus Beaming off their upcoming album Beyond Beyond Beyond. The crowd swayed to the riveting guitar melodies and sang along to every lyric, showcasing their love and loyalty for the folk-rockers’ cathartic music. The Crane Wives’ performance was masterfully tight and synchronized, with singers and guitarists Kate Pillsbury and Emilee Petersmark pulling off intricate vocal harmonies as they played vibrant riffs on their guitars. Folk rock normally comes with the presumption that the music is softer, quieter; The Crane Wives have turned that notion on its head, and their music is anything but. With rich instrumentals and anthemic lyricism, this band has pushed past the boundaries of genre and are guaranteed to put on an unforgettably gripping show. They will be touring all summer long in preparations for their upcoming album, so make sure to catch them out on the road while you still can! It will be well worth it.
